free cookies!

So this is my current map (SEE, DYLAN). I have 75-ish towns left. My plan is to tackle them during my Christmas break. If I can get that bundle out west in one trip, awesome. It looks like two trips for the south shore--- or an overnight? Maybe if I'm in Boston I can catch those few towns by there, and then one hella long day tackling that last clump. (Let's not forget about Martha's Vineyard. But... well.. maybe let's push it aside for now).
Last night Chris and I went on an adventure to Jamaica Plain for some free vegan desserts. We headed up 95 to 93 to 138-ish/28-ish and headed through Milton (remember the Blue Hills?) and through Mattapan (wide streets with lots of lanes, lots of urban-ness, shops a hybrid of Main South in Worcester and the main street area in Malden, pedestrians recklessly crossing street). JP was pretty darn neat - we took a right after we found the orange line t stop onto South Street and saw a co-op (a HUGE co-op) right next to Fiore's Italian Bakery where we were headed. Cool beans.

south o Boston-town
Chris and I went off to visit some of the towns below Boston this past weekend.
We met up just off 95 and traveled a little south, and walked around Avon (where there was a cool gazebo and a leave covered road, presumably with a school at the end), saw a wind turbine and flew kites on the beach in Hull. We saw a cool draw bridge too.
We learned that Hull is located in Plymouth County, and that it is a sprawling community with a thriving recreational programs, including a Children's Theater.
We learned that Braintree is a suburban community with a strong residential character located 10 miles south of Boston.
We learned that Brockton is known as the City of Champions and has James E Harrington serving as the mayor.
We learned that Avon has both the smallest land area and population of any community in the region.

It was suggested that I compile all my town-related adventures/ thoughts into this.
So I'm off to my old blogs to find town related material to post! Yay!
..............stay tuned while I compile my lists!

Maps on the way!
Dylan suggested that I make color coated maps................................based on a number of factors.
I was brainstorming earlier and started creating many new maps, some by time period explored, others by adventure companion, and others by population, and many many more.
You should see them soon.
In the meantime,
I'm so excited. And almost done with Western Mass!

I'm so excited. And almost done with Western Mass!
It's about the journey...
This goal was created a few years back, after realizing that I had experienced only the tip of the iceberg of what the fair state of Massachusetts- the Commonwealth where I grew up- had to offer.
Previously, I had only visited places that were convenient and only for reasons of utility value. I had gone to the doctor's office in Worcester, gone shopping in Wrentham and Holyoke, etc, but I hadn't really experienced any of it. I was merely passing through.
And I realized that I did not want to live my life just passing through. I wanted to experience it.
Welcome to my blog where I'll be sharing my experiences, graphs, photos, and progress.
Thanks for visiting!
